Bridgend ladies 1s 3 v Gwent 3
Bridgend’s first friendly was against Gwent who were in a league above so we were ready for a fight! Bridgend won the toss and the game started well for the home team. It wasn’t long until Jaz Gamble scored the first goal of the game for Bridgend. Gwent fought back and soon after they equalised. Gwent continued strongly and managed to score again. Before the end of the first half Jaz scored again for Bridgend and the first half ended 2-2.
Gwent were first to score in the second half but Bridgend battled on. Jaz hit the ball in the air into the back of the net but the goal was unfortunately disallowed. This didn’t dampen Bridgend’s spirits and Jaz scored again following a long corner and the game ended 3-3.

Bridgend ladies 2nds 0 – Gwent 4

In a tough opening game for the Ladies 2nds the score line wasn’t a fair reflection of the commitment and effort displayed by a (mostly) young inexperienced team, with many members of last years junior and development teams making their senior debuts. There were many promising performances, some fantastic defending and some encouraging attacking play with a few chances sadly going wide. All 4 Gwent goals were scored in the first half and the second half was much more evenly matched as the new players started to gel. Lots more to come from this team this season!
