Bridgend Mens 1st XI 3 v UWE Bristol 1
Hot on the heels of the great win last week against much fancied Cleevilians, it was another three points for the Ravens at Pencoed School as they despatched a good UWE Bristol side by 3 goals to 1. Richard Knight opened the scoring after a counter attack move involving Nick Anthony, before the students equalised. With honours even at 1-1 at half time, captain Rhydian Cole broke the deadlock in the second half with a well worked short corner routine, before David Knight continued where he left off last week with another goal, taking his tally to four in the last two games. Next up, is a tough trip to third placed Lydney on saturday, who dropped points on saturday. Bridgend remain, along with Cardiff & UWIC as the only two teams with maximum points in De Cymru and the Marches Division 1.
Cardiff & UWIC 2 v Bridgend Mens 2nd XI 3
After a disappointing defeat in their league opener last weekend, it was back to winning ways for Bridgend 2nd XI thanks to a good 3-2 win away against Cardiff & UWIC. Veterans Andy Schofield and Paul Davies were to thank for giving the Ravens the points, adding to a goal scored by UWIC student Rhodri Owen. It’s played 2, won 1, drawn 1 for Bridgend as they take on Whitchurch at Pencoed School next weekend in their first home league game of the season.
